Data Import Error - Duplicate stock type with description

Question/Problem 

When trying to import a stock file I receive an error similar to the following: 'Duplicate stock type with description...' but there does not seem to be any duplicates on my import file.

Resolution/Solution 

This is an inbuilt quality control measure to ensure stock items are correctly stored in the system. The message is informing you that [System Setup | System Data | Level 2: Type] contains a duplicate entry with the description being displayed in the error message on screen.

To remove the duplicate do the following:
  1. Go to [System Setup | System Data | Level 2: Type].
  2. Click Edit.
  3. Enter the description of your duplicate (as per the error message) in the free text box at the top of table description column (It'll say 'Find' as per image below).
  4. Green select the duplicates keeping only one entry.
  5. Click the red Del button and then click Save Screen.
    1. If you get any errors at this point it means that either stock is stored in one or more of the duplicates and will first need moving in to a single level 2 stock type OR that the Level 2 is being referenced by a Level 3 or Level 4 stock type which must be deleted first.
