More than 2 decimal places for the stock value
Question/Problem
The stock item stock value is displayed as 2 decimal places but more are needed.
Solution
You can enable up to 4 decimal places for purchasing as follows:
- Go to [System Values | Purchasing] .
- Set Unit Decimal Places to the required length (maximum of 4dp).
This will allow the system to use up to 4dp for stock item buy prices and in turn have equivalent stock values once the purchase invoice has been posted to the accounts.
Notes
- The Stock Value display will only show 2dp, however, the calculations are 4dp once the purchasing setting has been changed. This can be seen by clicking 'Actions' from within the stock item record and selecting 'Stock Value Calc' where your stock value will be shown to the correct number of decimal places.
- Existing stock values will not be rounded to a new level of decimal places, only after the posting an invoice or stock adjustment will the changes take effect.
