Client Query - SCS child items have become parents and are unable to be sold

Question/Problem 

I did a bulk update on my stock items and some SCS child items have now become parents and are unable to be sold, how can I fix this?

Resolution/Solution 

The only way to correct this issue as a user is to delete the affected items AND any child items created during the import, then recreate the item.
