Client Query - SCS Item Not Selling at Expected Price

Problem

SCS item being sold at an incorrect price when not specified in the item record.

Solution

This can occur when using price lists and with both the parent and child SCS item present in any price lists to which the customer is entitled.  When the parent item and the child item exist on entitled price lists, the parent item is also taken into consideration if the 'Force Sales Order Lowest Price' option is enabled in [System Setup | System Values | Sales]. It is recommended that all SCS parent items are removed from price lists as it is not possible to sell an SCS parent item.

To avoid this in future, either the option above is disabled or the parent items are excluded from the price lists to which the customer is entitled.
